To begin with I must say that sport is one of the things that always keep people fit. Wise people say that good health is a great blessing. Everyone should do all possible to stay healthy.
Different people have different attitude to sports. Some think sport is important to keep healthy, but it isn’t the only way to do this. Many people prefer to exercise in other ways, for example jogging, working out in the gym, dancing, or even gardening. Some people believe that sport is not very useful. Thousands of them go to stadiums to support their favourite teams and sportsmen. Some can enjoy sports sitting in a comfortable arm-chair and watching TV. Of course, watching sports events and going in for sports are two different things.
As for me, I want to be healthy, strong and active. I go in for sport and like it so much. I always participate in school sport competitions. Together with my father we do our usual morning exercises at home, train in the sport club and swim in our local swimming-pool.
In my opinion, children should be encouraged to go in for sports and to take part in a great variety of sports events. Firstly, sport helps people to keep in a good health. Secondly, all sports teach us about dealing with success and failure. Thirdly, most sports involve teamwork and teach us how to get along with others, how to work together to achieve a common goal. Children must know that physically inactive people get older earlier than those who have plenty of exercises. Sport is competitive because life is competitive. It encourages a sense of belonging and identity, bringing people together in our fragmented society.
I
